Totally Awesome Cards . . .
Are In Your Hand!

Finally, a real card game that's totally fun and educational.

The card games you'll find here are the perfect balance of fun and education.  What makes a card game fun?  What makes a card game educational?

Educational Card Games is dedicated to providing FUN card games that help you learn interesting facts about the world we live in.  Having FUN is critical in a game - otherwise, nobody would play it!

That's why each deck of cards has:

  •  3 different game-play rules included
  •  Its own website showing all the different ways to play
  •  The coolest graphics of any comparable card game
  •  The opportunity for you to exercise your creativity and earn cash by submitting your own rules for the game.

UNDERSTANDING OUR PHILOSOPHY - Playing games in and of itself is an educational experience.  Participants need to learn and understand the rules, figure out how to win and execute a plan either individually or as a team to reach victory.  But most of the really fun card games lack the educational value you want.

Looking at the most popular card games, we see that they all focus on entertainment value, and very little educational value.  Face cards, Uno, SkipBo, Phase 10, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh - all are really fun to play, but provide little or no real educational value.

Looking at card games made to educate, we see that they all focus on the educational value, and put little effort into developing the "fun" in a game.

By focusing on the fun of the game, then adding in the educational components, Educational Card Games is developing the best set of card games in the world.  Each of our decks is adaptable to many different card games.  Not only do we provide various game play rules, but you can make your own rules and submit them here to be posted online.  The last thing you want is to buy a card game only to find out that it's really boring.  Therefore, we've given you a way to have endless fun trying all the different game playing rules for each of our decks of cards.  After all, if a game isn't fun, who's going to play it?

WHAT MAKES A CARD GAME FUN? - There are three key elements that make a card game fun:

  •   Challenge / Strategy - this is the core of the game.  It includes the objective, the deal, the play and scoring.  The game should provide a good challenge for its players and allow them to use different strategies to win.  This is what determines the age group / skill level of the game.
  •   Element of Surprise - this is the variation of the game.  The element of surprise must be built into the game to provide laughter, excitement, regret and risk.  This really is the "fun" part of the game.
  •   Replay Ability - this is the ability to play the game over and over with different outcomes each time.  This is measured by the "boring" factor - if people get bored fast, then it lacks replay ability.

WHAT MAKES A CARD GAME EDUCATIONAL? - There are three key elements that make a card educational:

  •   New Information - this is the information provided on each card.  It could be in text or graphic form.  It is normally unknown by the age group / skill level for whom the game is made.
  •   Memorization - this is the part of the game that rewards good memory.  If players are able to remember the new information, they can advance in the game.
  •   Context / Cognition - this is the part of the game that puts the new information to use.  Players win or score points by putting the new information to use (e.g. answering questions correctly, matching pairs, following sequences, etc.).
